Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKU Shenzhen
) is a satellite graduate campus of Peking University that is committed to becoming a top tier international campus. PKU Shenzhen was established in 2001 in cooperation with the Shenzhen government and now has eight individual graduate schools with an international community of over 200 members.
 
Open Position: International Affairs Coordinator
PKU Shenzhen is seeking a qualified individual with native-level English, Chinese language proficiency, and a strong work ethic to lead the internationalization efforts of the university-wide administration.
 
Job Purpose: The position works to develop and support the ever-growing international community at the PKU Shenzhen campus through event planning, creation and maintenance of supportive campus resources, and management of the school’s English media platforms. Ideal candidates must be creative, open-minded, and quick to learn and adapt.
 
Position: Full-time (Monday to Friday: 8:00am-12:00pm, 1:30-5:30pm)
Start Date: Mid to Late January 2018
Location: Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China
Contract: 3 years with possibility for renewal
Work Visa/Residence Permit: Provided
Negotiable after initial (face to face/phone) interview: salary, accommodation and annual flight subsidy 
 
Duties include:

  1. Plan and manage the PKU Shenzhen Campus Life Orientation for new incoming international students
  2. Oversee the Campus Advisor Program, which includes holding CA meetings and CA Program Committee meetings, budget management, recruitment, and training a team of 8 student staff members
  3. Manage, update, and design the PKU Shenzhen English website(s)
  4. Oversee the student-run English media team, which includes a monthly newspaper, an annual magazine, and the university blog (thenanyan.com)
  5. Coordinate new international student arrival with individual graduate schools, which includes registration, accommodation and cultural adjustment
  6. Manage campus life issues for international student community
  7. Organize and/or support international community events
  8. Maintain and curate content for university’s English social media platforms
  9. Actively update international faculty, staff and students on PKU Shenzhen announcements/events and encourage the growth of an international community
  10. Provide bilingual support and English editing for the Chancellor’s Secretariat Office and related PKU Shenzhen administrative departments
  11. Support PKU Shenzhen administrative staff with English training as needed
  12. Other duties as assigned
 
Basic Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Native English speaker
  3. Working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
  4. 2 years of related work experience
  5. Recommendation letter from previous employer
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Preferred work and/or study experience in China
  2. Strong English writing skills
  3. Administrative work experience at a university 
  4. Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
  5. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize multi processes
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong interest with working in student services
