Shenzhen has a young and dynamic population and sport is highly valued, with more than 1,600 events related to sport or fitness organized each year. It is estimated that about 18% of the population practice sport regularly (three or more times a week). In 2011, Shenzhen hosted the Universiade games and built many new sports facilities. The most popular sports here are soccer, basketball and running. You will find stadiums and sports centers everywhere, but also ice skating, roller skating, golfing, and horse racing.
