On February 18, 2025, Rehan Sadiq, Vice President and Provost of the Okanagan Campus at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and Guangyu Wang, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Director of the Asia Center, visited Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ). The event was attended by PKUSZ’s Executive Vice Dean Zhen Yang, Vice Dean Tianbing Wang, key department heads, and alumni representatives from both institutions.

Zhen Yang extended a warm welcome to the UBC delegation and provided a comprehensive introduction to PKUSZ. He highlighted the graduate school’s commitment to the problem-oriented, north-south integration, AI-driven, and innovation-fusion development philosophy. The institution has made significant progress in faculty development, scientific research achievements, and talent cultivation. Yang emphasized that PKUSZ is actively implementing a new model of international education aimed at nurturing high-quality talent with a global perspective and innovative abilities.

Rehan Sadiq introduced UBC’s unique features and advantages, especially the university's leadership in environmental science, forest management, and sustainable development. He hopes the exchange will lead to opportunities for collaboration in research, teaching, and student exchange, allowing both institutions to work together in developing top-tier talent. Sadiq commended PKUSZ’s achievements in educational innovation and international collaboration and expressed optimism about future cooperation across a wide range of fields.

Tianbing Wang emphasized the importance of the meeting as a starting point for exploring the specific details of potential collaborations between the two institutions. He suggested making full use of each other's strengths and resources to promote talent cultivation, research cooperation, and academic exchanges. It would help to build a globally influential international education brand and contribute to producing more internationally competitive, high-quality professionals.
Guangyu Wang noted the strong collaborative foundation between Peking University and UBC. He proposed that PKUSZ could draw on the successful experiences of Sino-foreign cooperative programs to further expand and deepen new international cooperation models, achieving mutual benefits.
