Peking Sports Games – PKUSZ Champions for a Fourth Time

Date:

Peking University Sports Games began on April 24th with a preliminary round to select athletes for the finals, which were held on April 25th on Peking University's campus in Beijing.

Unusual weather for Beijing, we were met with a sunny morning that quickly turned into an extremely hot afternoon, with a temperature that quickly reached 28°C. Despite that, 30 students of PKU Shenzhen Graduate School gathered in front of the famous West Gate of PKU Beijing campus at 7:30 am, eager to compete with one goal in mind - continue our school’s impressive winning streak and bring home the gold medal for the fourth year in a row.

It is fair to say the competition was fierce; there were students representing 41 schools this year.Even though our team members were little bit nervous before the competition, they truly did an extraordinary job. Every student that took part in the preliminary competition made it to finals.

More than 12 games were held on Friday, including running (from 100 meter to 5000 meter), Long Jump, Shot Put, and Javelin for men and women as well as many other collective and group games.

The winning team was determined by the sum of overall scores of each member’s performance. First 8 places get the scores, starting from 9 points to 1 for the first to eighth places respectively. All PKU Shenzhen Graduate School students got into the first 8.

As Laoshi Hu said “it was a great start. But every great start needs a great finish!”

After many rounds of competition, the results were clear—the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School team was victorious for the fourth year in a row. The PKUSZ team’s final score totaled to 353 points, defeating the second place team by 131 points. A big thank you goes out to all of our athletes that brought home the glory for Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School!
