PHBS holds 2015 New Year's Party at Intercontinental Shenzhen

Date:

On December 21st 2015, the Peking University HSBC Business School’s New Year’s Party was held in the Intercontinental Hotel in Shenzhen. The party had seen the presence of prestigious personalities, among them the Dean of PHBS, Professor Hai Wen. So together, let us take a look back at that day, which will stay in our minds, as one of the most memorable days of the past year.

Before jumping directly into the festivities, a great deal of tasks had taken place for all the participants to arrive on time and enjoy this enormous event. For this occasion to be successful, we have to send our best wishes and greetings to our Dean Hai Wen and all the staff of PHBS. Thanks to their management expertise and hard work, all students and participants met in front of H Building and got to the hotel quickly, as traffic was fine.

At their arrival to the hotel, all attendees participated in the “Wishing Bottle Scene”, where they could write a wish on a piece of paper, put it into a small bottle and place it into the Wishing Well. This event was an idea introduced by Alec Rosenman, Manager of admissions at the PHBS international office. This small detail was a great success, as most people present left their best wishes of health and success to their comrades, friends and loved ones.

The party began around 7pm and its official launch came with Professor Hai Wen’s welcoming address. This year’s allocation from Professor Wen discussed how important this event was to the PHBS community. He also reminded everyone that PHBS just turned ten years old and that we were looking forward to the coming ten years with a lot of focus and enthusiasm. PHBS, which is definitely the link between east and west, was welcoming the best of Chinese students and more bright international students from all around the world.
He finally thanked all the people for their support of PHBS, encouraged students and faculty to strive for the best and continue their journey of progress for a positive future.

Later on, a beautiful spectacle was presented by local and international students. Shows varied from rock to Chinese traditional music. On their part, the international students from the 2014 management class performed “The Macarena” led by Allie Hesse. The audience was positively pleased by the involvement of the international students in this event and the applause at the end of the performance was very warm.

A very delicious dinner was then served to the delight of everyone present. Later on, first to offer a toast was Professor Wen. He wished everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a lot of success. Following this, present students and alumni took this opportunity to offer a toast to their faculty and friends.
As per the tradition of PHBS, the international students joined in offering toasts in their native language. Last year, PHBS welcomed more than 70 new students from all continents, more than any past year. This group gave this practice a special touch, as we are looking forward to having more international representatives in the future.

Lastly, the PHBS raffle took place in which prizes included iPad Minis, iPhone 6s and Kindles. The overall feeling was very positive, as most of the attendees were very pleased by the quality of the shows, as well as the overall atmosphere.
