Date:

At 7 pm on 26th Sep 2014, the 2014 New Student Welcome Ceremony of PKU Shenzhen was held in The International Conference Center. Executive Vice-President of PKU Shenzhen, Professor Bai Zhiqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee, Professor Tan Wenchang and other leaders from different colleges, enjoyed the performances together with exhilarated student audience.

The theme of this ceremony is “The Journey Starts Here,” the whole ceremony included dance, songs, drama, and scene play with different type of programs. The excellent performances showed the optimistic and innovative attitude of our PKU Shenzhen students. Remarkably, international students could be found everywhere from the host to actors, showing various talents of international students and PKU Shenzhen’s internationalizing spirit.

A video made by Nanyan News Agency raised the curtain of the ceremony. The video recorded the students coming to school to report for duty and some life details in University Town. The opening dance performed by the first year students from School of Urban Planning and Design won joyous applause from all of the spectators.

For new students from PHBS, except the freshmen military training, the most impressive thing maybe all kinds of career development associations, it is not easy to join those associations cause you have to pass the CV screening, and then pass group  or individual interviews. The drama, “Interview” revealed some interesting matters that happen during recruiting for new members, funny lines and humorous plot brought the audience much cheers and laughter.

Hu Yue, the student from School of Transnational Law, not only helped host the celebration, but also performed a solo dance called “Spirit of Peacock.” The mellow music and graceful movements of the dancer entranced the entire audience.

Students from the School of Environment and Engineering took the whole responsibility for designing, arranging, and performing “Little People Dance,” an imaginative and creative performance that tickled all the audience’s teachers and students.
