On December 4, 2025, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School held the inauguration ceremony for "Nanyan 2001." This space is a multi-functional composite venue integrating dining, academic exchanges, and cultural activities. It serves not only as an important vehicle for optimizing the School’s educational conditions and enhancing the nurturing environment but also as a key platform for cultural activities and interactions between faculty and students.

Ceremony Scene

In 2001, Peking University and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government jointly founded Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. Over twenty-four years of perseverance and unity between faculty and students, the "Southern Swallow" has flourished into a thriving community. To create a dedicated space for faculty-student interaction, the venue has been named "Nanyan 2001," paying homage to the founding year while embodying aspirations for the future, inspiring all members of the Nanyan community to continue writing the "spring story" of Peking University in Shenzhen.

Witnessed by attending guests and student representatives, "Nanyan 2001" was officially unveiled and opened for use by the entire School. Its inauguration carries profound historical significance and opens a new window for future exchanges.

Following the ceremony, all attendees took a group photo and toured the "Nanyan 2001" space.

Prior to this, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School had formally signed a Letter of Intent with Shenzhen Special Zone Construction and Engineering Group, marking a transition from "project partnership" to a new stage of "in-depth collaboration." The inauguration of "Nanyan 2001" represents the first tangible achievement of this partnership.

The "Nanyan 2001" space covers a total area of 600 square meters, including 189 square meters of renovated indoor space and 411 square meters of redesigned outdoor courtyard. Centered on the core needs of academic exchanges among faculty and students, the space is equipped with dining services to support daily interactions, study sessions, and relaxation.

The design adopts a modern and minimalist aesthetic, emphasizing quality and sophistication while blending the cultural identity of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, the freshness of natural greenery, and the serene atmosphere of academic pursuits. Breaking the boundaries of single functionality, the space integrates various functional zones, including private rooms, salon discussion areas, open seating, outdoor leisure spaces, and external reception areas. It creates a versatile composite space suitable for casual conversations, quiet reading, and warm gatherings, accommodating diverse scenarios with its inclusive layout.
