Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Hosts 2026 Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner

As the Spring Festival approaches, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School held its 2026 Chinese New Year reunion dinner on February 15, creating a festive and warm atmosphere for faculty, students, and support staff staying on campus over the holiday.

At the Reunion Dinner

Upon entering the venue, guests were greeted by an abundance of auspicious Chinese red. Lanterns hung high illuminated smiling faces, handwritten couplets conveyed heartfelt blessings, and upside-down characters symbolized the arrival of good fortune. At the calligraphy station, studentssome deeply focused, others boldly expressivechanneled their New Year aspirations through the brush. International students also joined in, leaving their own sincere, if slightly unpolished, characters on red paper, experiencing the unique charm of a Chinese New Year through traditional culture. 

The graduate school also prepared thoughtful New Year gift packages for every student remaining on campus, ensuring they could feel the warmth of home even while away from their families.

Following a brief welcome address, the reunion dinner officially began. The tables were filled with a diverse array of dishes from across the country, catering to the varied tastes of faculty and students from different regions. As everyone savored the flavors of home, an exciting lucky draw brought waves of cheers and applause, with generous prizes adding to the festive joy. 

Upstairs in the second canteen, another warm gathering was underway. Security guards, property managers, catering staff, and other support personnel who remained on duty over the holiday shared in the celebrations through a buffet-style dinner. Though they could not attend the main event, the graduate schools appreciation reached every dedicated worker contributing behind the scenes. 

As a cherished tradition at the Shenzhen Graduate School, the Chinese New Year reunion dinner is more than just a ritual to bid farewell to the old and welcome the newit is a meaningful occasion that strengthens bonds within the campus community and carries forward the spirit of the university. Around the steaming tables, faculty, students, and staff exchanged warm wishes and shared hopes for the future, embracing the Year of the Horse with renewed energy and togetherness.
