Spring breathes life into the vibrant Peking University (PKU) campus. The 33rd PKU Sports Culture Festival & 2026 Spring University Games concluded successfully. PKU Shenzhen Graduate School representative team topped the standings with a total of 382 points, claiming the championship trophy for the 13th time. Notably, nearly half of the participating athletes were international students. The joint effort of Chinese and international students vividly exemplifies the School’s internationalization strategy and the fusion of Chinese and global cultures.

To the stirring melody, scenes of determination and effort reemerged in a highlights video. The journey from PKU Shenzhen Campus to the Beijing campus was not merely a sporting endeavor but a precious cross-campus collaboration. The days and nights soaked in sweat, the moments of pushing limits and breaking boundaries have now become beacons in memory, the most treasured keepsakes in the travelers’ packs.
Huang Jiacheng, Wei Xingpeng, Maria Sfondrini, and Lin Li each delivered speeches. Among them, Maria Sfondrini, a 2025 master’s student in Finance from Italy, spoke on behalf of international students. She thanked all participants for their efforts and recounted her journey of suffering a knee ligament tear that nearly forced her to withdraw, persevering with training under her coach’s encouragement, and ultimately winning a medal in the relay with her teammates. She said that the University Games brought her precious friendships and a sense of belonging that far outweighed any medal, and that she would fully prepare for the next year’s Games to go for gold.
