On the morning of June 27, 2026, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School held its 2026 Graduation Ceremony. A total of 1,256 students graduated this year, consisting of 1,146 master’s students and 110 doctoral students, among whom 100 are international students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Hundreds of family members were specially invited to witness the grand occasion.
Zhang Jin, Peking University Party Committee member, Executive Vice President of Peking University and Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Chancellor; Jiang Guohua, Vice Chair of the Peking University Council, Provost and Director of the Office of Publicity of Peking University; Tan Wenchang, Party Secretary of PKUSZ; Wang Tianbing, Niu Hongwei and Tian Yonghong, Vice Chancellor of PKUSZ; An Xiaopeng and Liu Haihua, Deputy Party Secretaries of PKUSZ; distinguished alumni Jiang Biwang, Peking University 1984 Chemistry alumnus and Chairman of Suzhou Nanomicro Technology Co., Ltd., Chen Gang, Peking University 1994 Chemistry alumnus and Director & General Manager of BYD Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Wang Yongzhe, PKUSZ 2010 School of Transnational Law alumnus and Founder of Jingding Shijia Culture Media Group, together with leaders from various functional departments and schools of PKUSZ and faculty representatives attended the ceremony. The whole event was presided over by Wang Tianbing.
Before the ceremony officially began, students from the Primary Section of Peking University Affiliated High School Shenzhen School opened the stage with the dance Young Aspirations, whose neat and powerful movements showcased the vigor and vitality of young children. The school choir then joined hands with solo dancer Chen Siyu from PKU Shenzhen to perform At the Crossroads Where Phoenix Flowers Bloom, with clear voices and graceful choreography complementing each other and adding a warm and touching atmosphere to the ceremony. The Dance Team of the PKU Shenzhen Student Art Troupe presented the modern dance Resonance of Humanity, conveying youthful reflection through expressive body language. Campus Top Ten Singers Luo Senhan, Polina Bibchenko (Xia Wei), Zhang Wenqian, Jiao Rao, Shao Yuming and Zhou Jingxuan performed a medley of songs, including See You Again, Into the Sea, Cheers and Youth, Perhaps, as a relay of familiar melodies that resonated deeply with the audience. Applause rang out across the venue as the warm-up atmosphere continued to build.
The graduation feature film Days of Radiance was screened at the venue, capturing warm moments such as the morning light by Mirror Lake, the late-night glow of laboratory lamps, and paddles gliding across the Dasha River. Centered on the theme of “growth,” the film traced students’ transformation from their first arrival at Nanyan Campus to the fulfillment they carried at graduation. It conveyed a firm belief in holding light within and growing upward through both smooth and challenging times, offering warmth and strength to graduates about to embark on new journeys.
As the solemn and stirring national anthem was played, the Graduation Ceremony officially commenced.
Zhang Jin delivered a speech themed "Uphold Long-termism and Run the Historical Relay Well," raising three expectations for graduates. First, embrace the values of long-termism: set lofty goals and stay true to original aspirations, overcoming hardships with unwavering perseverance. Second, adopt the methodology of long-termism: hone capabilities to sustain long-distance races, accumulating progress step by step with the patience for years of dedicated research. Third, grasp the dialectics of long-termism: pursue innovation and creation with courage to tackle emerging challenges. He urged students to commit to long-term dedication, build capabilities through consistent accumulation, dare to innovate, and run the relay race for national rejuvenation and strength building on the new era journey.
Tan Wenchang read out the Decision of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School on Commending Outstanding Graduates of the Class of 2026. Zhang Jin and Jiang Guohua turned the tassels and presented certificates to outstanding graduate representatives. Afterwards, Tan Wenchang called out the names of all doctoral graduates, and Zhang Jin together with Jiang Guohua performed the tassel-turning ceremony for doctoral graduate representatives. Leaders of each school then read the master’s graduate rosters, with Zhang Jin, Jiang Guohua and Tan Wenchang jointly turning the tassels for master’s graduate representatives.
The ceremony drew to a close with all faculty and students singing Love of Yanyuan in unison. The melodious tune carried nostalgic memories of years spent on Nanyan Campus and boundless hopes for the vast new era ahead.
May all graduates of the Class of 2026 carry forward the spirit of Yanyuan, write a youth without regrets through solid work and commitment, and integrate personal endeavor into the great cause of building a strong nation and advancing national rejuvenation. On the new journey of the new era, may they run well their own leg of the historical relay. May they chase the wind and the moon without asking when they will return; and wherever vast mountains and seas may lead, may their shining presence be seen. A boundless future lies ahead, full of promise.
