Campus Community Advisors Host Dim Sum Event for Internationals

Date:

On March 15, 2015, the PKUSZ Campus Community Advisors (CAs) hosted a Dim Sum activity as the introductory CA event for the semester. International students, CAs, and a couple STL student hosts met at 10 AM and headed to Xili’s Nanrong Hotel together. For many of the international students, it was their first time to have dim sum. The CAs ordered a diverse spread of dishes to introduce traditional dim sum to everyone, including roasted pork buns, (叉烧包), steamed dumplings (烧卖), rice noodle rolls (肠粉) and many more.

Throughout dinner, CAs taught international students about various aspects of Chinese culture. One CA, Richard Zhang, explained that the matter of proper table manners in China is very complex because it can differ from region to region. He gave a few examples including tapping the table with your fingers as a sign of gratitude while someone pours you a cup of tea.

Many thanks to CA Emerald Li, for organizing this first event.
