“Start here and come together. The world will be absolutely wonderful for our participation.” In the song of 2011, start here, welcoming party “we are here, start here” unveiled itself in the international conference center on September 28 .
The welcoming party “we are here, start here!” was hosted by the PKUSZ general branch committee of the Communist Youth League and PKUSZ Graduate Student Assembly, and held to celebrate the National Day, new students and the beginning of Shenzhen Universiade volunteer recruitment.
Prof. Hai Wen, Vice president of Peking University and Chancellor of PKUSZ, watched the performance and addressed the students and guests at the party. He called upon all students to act together to be volunteers. With the volunteer banner for Unversiade being passed among the student audience, Prof.Haiwen declared the beginning of 2011 Unversiade volunteer recruitment.
“Peking University was the first university in China. During the 112 years of establishment, it has always been active in every critical historical moment, played an important role in pushing the history forward, and had made great contributions to the development of our country. More than 3,000 PKU students became volunteers for 2008 Beijing Olympics and helped present the world a brilliant Peking University. And now, the 2011 world Universiade is to be held in Shenzhen. Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, being part of Shenzhen, will incumbently serve the Universiade for its success. All faculty and students of PKUSZ are volunteers of the Unversiade.”
The welcoming party featured a portfolio performance of dances, singing, drama and magjc shows. Performers on stage displayed their outstanding talents, while audience burst into laughter and applause from time to time..
“Their performances were fabulous and I had a great time here”, one student said after enjoying the welcoming party. The welcoming party was concluded with singing together with the HSBC Business School choir the song ‘We Are The World’.( Gao Mei)
