August 17, 2015 marked the beginning of the New International Student Orientation, as well as the main arrival date for the new incoming class of international students to Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School. This year’s class welcomes 110 students from over 36 countries all over the world. These international students are comprised of full-time students and exchange students at either the HSBC Business School or the School of Transnational Law. Upon arrival, new students were met by PKU Shenzhen and PHBS staff, Campus Community Advisors and second-year full-time students to welcome and help them through their check-in process.
The following day, students poured in to the administrative building to officially register at the university. Students chatted with one another, got their school shirts, and got their affairs in order. Following registration day, students got a better look at campus. The day started off with a tour of PKU Shenzhen, University Town, and neighboring village Pingshan. Students were shown the ins-and-outs of campus and the surrounding areas: bus stops, short cuts, good places to go for noodles, etc.
PKU Shenzhen’s New International Student Orientation Week rounded out with Survival Chinese courses, trips to Ikea, excursions to the city center, and the hospital for resident permit health checks, as well as in-depth presentations of campus life and cultural integration.
