Share
Date:

2013/12
The fifth annual Peking University Shenzhen Thanksgiving Party was successfully held on November 29th at 7:00 pm at the Moot Court of the School of Transnational Law. The party was hosted by the Chancellor’s Secretariat Office, HSBC Business School, and School of Transnational Law in collaboration with the English Association and the University Cafe. The food for the occasion was provided by Frankie’s, an American restaurant and bar in Futian and Baeckerei Thomas, a German bakery.
The party began with the arrival of the guests to beautifully decorated Thanksgiving themed Moot Court. All the guest were greeted with slips to write what they were thankful for which were later placed on the Christmas tree. The dinner had a social theme as well. Throughout the dinner, members of the International Association collected donations which later amounted to 1400 RMB to aid the victims of typhoon ‘Hainan’ in Philippines. The toast for the evening was delivered by Ms. Colleen Toomey, Associate Dean of the School of Transnational Law who emphasized on the relevance of Thanksgiving and expressed sympathy for the victims of the typhoon as well. After the dinner, there was a live karaoke where international and Chinese students alike sang their favorite songs with live music and enjoyed the rest of the party.
This thanksgiving dinner was particularly very well received by all the faculty members and the students and the efforts put in by the Chancellor’s Secretariat Office as well as the student organizations were hugely appreciated.
