“Dandelion” Green Graduation Season Flea Market & Charity Sale

Date:

On the afternoon of May 15th, 2023, the "Dandelion·Green Graduation Season, To My Youth Story" event was held in the Nanshan District venue of Shenzhen universities in the University City. As one of the co-organizers, the Graduate School at Peking University Shenzhen was invited and Niu Hongwei, the Vice Dean attended the event. The Green+ Association at the School of Environment and Energy led the organization of related activities.

The event was guided by the Shenzhen City Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau and the Nanshan District Government, hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal Solid Waste Management Affairs Center, and co-organized by the Nanshan District Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Peking University Graduate School at Shenzhen, Nanshan District Education Bureau, Shenzhen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School, Shenzhen Polytechnic, and Guangdong Xinan Vocational and Technical College.

The event fully utilized the power of the universities and local enterprises in Shenzhen, allowing more organizations to work together to create a new model of university waste classification education that combines "environmental protection + art". On-site, free collection services were provided to graduating students for old items of all categories with the "separation, abandonment, and liberation" demand. The activity was jointly conducted with professional recycling organizations, and students could obtain credits through recycling activities and then exchange corresponding credit points for gifts in the "exchange zone" at the creative flea market, promoting the recycling of renewable resources and the benign operation within the school. In addition, many creative stalls were set up, such as "exchange zone," "book drifting zone," and "charity sale zone," which could promote the recycling of second-hand idle items in universities and build beautiful and clean campuses. Niu Hongwei encouraged students to hold and participate in such activities and supported their charity activities. All proceeds from the charity sale were included in the "Don't Forget Me·Support Program for Elderly with Cognitive Impairment" project.

Representatives of environmental protection societies and students from seven universities in Nanshan District jointly signed a call for graduating students to "leave the school green." This was intended to give university students a sense of mission through the signing ceremony of the call, encouraging and guiding students to actively participate in waste classification and promoting waste classification work on university campuses.
