On September 12th, the Standing Congress of the Graduate Student Association of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School hosted the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Garden Party nearby Mirror Lake, during which Nanyan (PKUSZ) students gathered with Shenzhen residents to joined the event with laughter beneath the luminous harvest moon.

First, an ancient-style setting, where elements of Chinese calligraphy merge with a gentle and serene atmosphere, welcomed visitors to take pictures with staffs donning traditional Hanfu attire.

Next, an extensive interactive exhibition area showcased a rich array of traditional Chinese arts across four pavilions.

In the Shuxiang Pavilion, attendees selected beads of various colors and styles to create their own Chinese-style ancient jewelry symbolizing well-being and peace, which they gifted to their relatives and friends during the festival.

The Yangsheng Pavilion invited everyone to taste and appreciate a variety of teas, including tangerine peel, fetal chrysanthemum, rose, and jasmine. As the fragrant aroma filled the air, participants engaged in mindfulness training under the guidance of Mr. She Zhizhuo, capturing a moment of relaxation and inner peace.

In the Huayi Pavilion, participants transformed fans into canvases, using lacquer as brushes to create beautiful Chinese lacquer fans.

Finally, in the Shiqu Pavilion, visitors experienced the folk handicraft of sugar painting, where they crafted intricate designs featuring animals, plants, and auspicious patterns, celebrating the art of intangible cultural heritage.

Then, there was an engaging game area where everyone could experience traditional cultural activities steeped in history, all within a cheerful atmosphere. In the Pitch-pot game, participants stood in a line and tossed arrows into a canister from a distance. Meanwhile, in the Chuiwan section, also known as the Chinese golf game, players used a stick to hit a small ball into the designated target area with as few strokes as possible.

At the end of the event, the special Fuli Pavilion provided a delightful experience where participants could exchange the seals earned from the games for mooncakes, along with receiving blessings. The mooncakes showcased unique designs, including representations of PKUSZ’s buildings and heartfelt wishes for the students.

The successful organization of this event thanks to the hard work and dedication of the students of the Graduate Student Association of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School.

The Nanyan Yuan wishes everyone a happy and unforgettable Mid-Autumn Festival together.

Regardless of where we are, we all share the same moonlight. On that day, PKU Beijing campus also received Mid-Autumn Festival blessings from Nanyan Yuan, uniting us in celebration and warmth.

Meanwhile, PKU Beijing students organized a series of activities, and they received mooncakes co-branded by PKU Beijing and PKUSZ, further strengthening the bonds between our communities.

Mooncakes are not merely a delicate snack; they are also a vessel of emotion that conveys the warmth of family bonds and care from afar. In ancient China, mooncakes served as messengers, carrying heartfelt sentiments to distant relatives and close friends, bridging the gaps between loved ones. Now, the students of PKUSZ, inspired by this tradition, infuse their blessings into the co-branded mooncakes, sharing the same heartfelt sentiments with their community.

This Mid-Autumn Festival event invited students from Beijing and Shenzhen to share their emotions and friendships across distances. The activities together showcased the common culture that resonates deeply with PKU students in both locations.

This gathering strengthened the bond between PKU students from the northern and southern campuses, allowing them to celebrate the festival through a spirit of reunion and weaving a tapestry of deep friendship among classmates.
