Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School Holds Review and Development Outlook Conference for the 24th Founding Anniversary

    On December 4, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School convened a conference to review its achievements and plan for future development on the occasion of its 24th anniversary. Attending the conference were Academician Zhang Jin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Peking University Party Committee, Executive Vice President of Peking University, and Dean of the Shenzhen Graduate School, along with the School’s Party and administrative leadership, members of the Party Committee and Discipline Inspection Commission, mid-level cadres, and secretaries of faculty Party branches. The conference was presided over by Tan Wenchang, Secretary of the Party Committee.

Zhang Jin delivered a summary and development report on the Shenzhen Graduate School, systematically outlining the strategic direction and core initiatives for the next phase. He emphasized that the School will continue to promote the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, adhere to the dual-drive approach of internationalized education and deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and comprehensively enhance its international competitiveness and academic influence.

Zhang Jin stated that the School will establish a fully integrated industry-academia-research system representative of the Greater Bay Area, creating a benchmark model for industry-academia-research integration in the region. By continuously deepening reforms and expanding openness, the School will provide solid support for Peking University to take root in the Bay Area, lead open cooperation and technological innovation, and explore new pathways and contribute new paradigms for the modernization of China’s higher education and scientific endeavors.

In concluding remarks, Tan Wenchang called on all colleges to focus on two core objectives: international development and the translation of scientific and technological achievements.Efforts should be made to balance the proportion of international faculty across departments and steadily advance international student recruitment plans. By strengthening teamwork and consolidating efforts, all administrative and service personnel should proactively improve their capabilities in internationalized education and services, uniting the efforts of faculty and students to collectively drive the high-quality development of the School.

Moving forward, the School will continue to leverage openness to foster innovation and integration to pursue development, contributing to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and supporting Peking University in enhancing its comprehensive strength and international influence, accelerating its progress toward the forefront of world-class universities.
