Tips for Basic Necessities of Life
Qiu Zhenyu, the chief physician of the Department of Infection in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University, made suggestions for college students regarding five aspects: clothing, food, housing, transportation and study.
Clothing
College students should be isolated at home for 2 weeks before returning to school and register daily (Please register on the “Cloud-fighting the Epidemic of PKU”). Upon arrival, the school shall conduct the necessary disinfection of each student’s clothing and luggage. It is recommended that students take a daily bath and hang their daily coats on the door or balcony after returning to the dormitory. Shoes worn outside should be kept outside or in a fixed place and disinfected regularly if necessary. Wipe your phone and keys with a sterile wipe or 75% alcohol.
Food
In terms of diet, college students should pay more attention to “a bite of safety”. Doctor Qiu suggested that college students would better buy food in the canteen rather than order takeout. Diners should wash hands carefully before meals, orderly enter the canteen, consciously queue and keep a distance of more than 1 meter to avoid a crowded situation. In addition, diners can bring their own tableware and take the food to the dormitory.
Housing
In terms of accommodation, experts suggested that universities should do a good job in advance of the preventive disinfection and ventilation in the dormitory, canteen, classroom, toilet and other key parts.
After students return, the dormitory should be ventilated and kept clean and tidy. Students should monitor their body temperature twice a day and not go to other dormitories. They should wear masks and keep a distance of more than 1.5 meters within two weeks. The dormitory should be disinfected every day. The corridor, classroom, elevator, stairs and other public parts, such as door handle, switch, desk desktop, faucet, etc., should be wiped using effective chlorine 250-500mg/L containing chlorine disinfectant by special persons. Effective chlorine 500mg/L disinfectant containing chlorine is used in the toilet for spraying and disinfection, and clean water is used to rinse after 30 minutes. Cleaning appliances used in each area should be placed in different areas, used separately, and marked to avoid cross-contamination. The school will be closed management after students check-in.
Transportation
If you must use public transport, wear a mask at all times and keep a distance from others. On the way, try to avoid touching objects with your hands and pay attention to hand hygiene. Avoid crowding and take a temperature check when you enter the school. You are allowed to enter the school only with a normal temperature. In case of discomfort and abnormal body temperature, you can be isolated at the temporary isolation point, pending further treatment. Parents and other persons are not allowed to enter the campus except under special circumstances.
Study
What hygiene precautions should you pay attention to when you go to class after you return to school? Doctor Qiu believes that college students should wear surgical masks into the classroom in an orderly manner, according to the specified location, with sufficient supplies to avoid cross-use. Keep the classroom clean, open the window for ventilation 3 times a day, 30 minutes each time, pay attention to keep warm during the ventilation. When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or towel. Wash your hands after coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your hands. Waste masks should be put in the designated trash can. In addition, students should do a good job of personal hygiene, wash their hands with hand sanitizer or soap with flowing water after going to the toilet.
Students should improve their physical fitness. Moderate outdoor activities are suggested to be held by individuals or classes. Masks are required during the activities, and students should keep a certain distance. Students should also avoid excessive exercise resulting in a decline in the body's immune capacity.
